New South Wales 35xx class 4-6-0

It is April 1967 and I am standing somewhere between Allandale and Greta, it is very late (after 17:30) and there is little light. Balancing the low light and a fast moving train I had

to open the shutter to a very large aperture probably f2 and try to get the fastest shutter speed available. On my Voigtlander Vito folding-bellows camera this was 1/250 second.

This class leader 3501 is heading the evening Singleton train from Newcastle on a downhill grade.

In January 1965 engine number 3512 is heading a midday train into Newcastle station.
