New South Wales railcars
In 1954 my father Ivor Thurlow took this photo at Beresfield with a Lubitel (Russian 6x6 cm) camera using 120 film.
I clearly remember at 9 years of age being with him, the train was moving very fast eastbound toward Newcastle probably at 65mph.
The subject is an air-conditioned express set I believe of the 900 class, probably less than 2 years old. Corrections welcome.
Railcar sets like these were developed in both the US and Germany in the mid 1930s and were very successful.
