1960s New South Wales trains and locomotives

The above photograph was taken by 16 year old Alan Thurlow in January 1965 from the Pacific Highway bridge at Islington over the main

railway line leading from Newcastle station to Broadmeadow. That is me Kimball taking a B&W film photograph from the inbound line at track level.

The locomotive is #3826 heading the 07:30 Sydney Express composed of 8 air-conditioned bogie coaches, having left Newcastle about 4 minutes previously.
