Kim Thurlow's Queensland Railways Pictures from the 50's
and 60's.
Warwick railway yard with signal gantry and rail-motor.
This photo records some interesting detail of Warwick railway environs in
late 1961, looking south from the southern end of the platform. Out of veiw
to the right, was a bay platform to handle branchline passenger trains. The
signal gantry appears to control the southern approaches to the yards, as
our view is at the rear of the sempahores. The signal box which housed the
lever activated controls for both points and signals, was a typical build
in that era. Note the two car rail-motor in the background. These passenger
carrying light vehicles were used on the Maryvale, and Killarney branchlines.
Beyond the rail-motor are what I surmise to be the wheat storage sheds.
