Portfolio of Queensland Railways - Wallangarra

From the lens of Kimball Thurlow

Wallangarra on the inland border between New South Wales and Queensland. This corrugated iron mens's convenience, at the southern end of the platform, is a classic. The building no longer exists. I just love the little turreted ventilator on the roof. I also happen to know where this type of thing was manufactured, Smiths Plumbing Supplies at Woolloongabba in Brisbane, just over the road from the famous 'Gabba Cricket Ground.

This view is from the 3' 6" gauge Queensland side, across the platform is the 4' 8.1/2" gauge of the NSWGR.

Here at Wallangarra, goods were laboriously shifted from standard to narrow gauge in one of the freight sheds, south from the passenger platforms.
