HO scale models of electric engines (5)

E 19 11 and E 19 12.

The E 19 electric locomotives (of which there were 4) were a development of the E 18, using similar frames and body, but with more powerful electric motors. They were designed in 1938 for the new Munich-Berlin electrified route, where speeds up to 225 kph were envisaged. No more examples of this locomotive were built due to resource demands within Germany, of the Second World War. For a full profile, description and history of the E 19 please see this PDF file, the E 19 Review.

Below is one example, the E 1912 in a post-war cobalt blue colour scheme. The photo was taken outside the Altkloster electric shed. These locomotives were used on general passenger duties.
