2015 Boxed sets of Märklin CIWL coaches for the Orient Express
In 2015, Marklin are offering new sets of Orient Express cars based on the wooden type shown on Page 1 and 2, but coloured in the distinctive CIWL royal blue. In this case, Marklin claims they represent coaches as running in 1928. After 1923, the CIWL was investing in all-steel cars, and these were painted blue, possibly to match their Train Bleu running to the south of France. It is equally possible, as wooden bodied cars were refurbished, that the older colours of umber and cream were replaced with blue.
The Marklin sets are fully equipped with LED interior lighting.
